Should I send a deposit or an advance payment?
No. Never send a deposit or an advance payment before meeting someone. A request for a payment code or a voucher is a scam.
How it works
Scammers ask for money before the meeting and then disappear. A real meeting never needs a payment sent in advance.
What to do
- Do not pay. Do not share any code, card number or bank detail.
- Stop the conversation.
- Report the listing with the "Report" button on the listing page. Add the link of the listing and a short reason.
Common signs
- A request for a payment code, such as a prepaid voucher.
- A request for a deposit or a payment "to confirm the booking".
- Pressure to pay quickly.
- A refusal to talk normally until you have paid.
If you already paid
- Contact your bank or the voucher provider as soon as possible.
- Report the facts to the authorities of your country.
- Keep your messages and the proof of payment.
For advertisers
If someone asks you for a code or a payment outside the platform, do not follow the request. Report it with the "Report" button on the listing page.
Good to know
- A badge never makes an advance payment safe (see How do I know which listings I can trust?).
