How do I know which listings I can trust?
No sign gives a guarantee, but some signs help. Look for badges, complete listings and a person who talks normally. Never pay in advance.
How it works
Trust is built from several small signs. Look at all of them together.
Signs that help
- The "Verified" badge: the identity was checked (see What does the "Verified" badge mean?).
- The "Selfie verified" badge: the photos match the person (see What does the "Selfie verified" badge mean?).
- A complete listing, with several photos, a clear description and a contact number.
- A person who answers your questions and agrees to meet without conditions.
Signs to be careful about
- A request for a deposit, an advance payment or a payment code (see Should I send a deposit or an advance payment?).
- Pressure to decide or pay quickly.
- A refusal to talk or meet normally.
- A listing that does not match what the person tells you.
What to do
- If something seems wrong, stop the conversation.
- Report the listing with the "Report" button on the listing page (see How do I report a fake profile?).
Good to know
- A badge never makes an advance payment safe.
